NARI Atlanta’s Best Kitchen Over $150,000

This kitchen took top honors at the NARI Atlanta Contractor of the Year awards. It won “Best Kitchen Over $150,000.  This beautiful kitchen is now open, bright, cozy, and inviting. The clients were looking for a larger kitchen with better flow from the keeping room to the kitchen to the family room. The Counterpoint Group, working with Integrity Home Improvements, designed and provided cabinetry that ended up exceeding client expectations. The clients are thrilled with the natural light that floods in through the kitchen window, the way the kitchen opens to the family room, and the look and feel of all the new cabinetry, countertops, hardwood floors, lighting, and unique and detailed backsplash.

Gordon Bill of Integrity Home Improvement hired The Counterpoint Group to help with the design of the kitchen and to provide the cabinetry.  “We knew Marc was good at kitchen design, and he had a number of cabinet lines. We needed quality cabinets and knew he could provide that for our client. Having known Marc Tyson, the owner of  The Counterpoint Group, we knew we could work with him.”

In fact, when Marc initially visited with the clients to learn what their goals were with the kitchen, the vision was to expand the kitchen out into what is now the outdoor deck. Understanding that the clients wanted more space and that they wanted to bring the kitchen together with the family room, Marc came up with a design plan no one expected. Instead of expanding the kitchen out into the deck area, he would make the keeping room into the new kitchen. He would expand the “A frame” room, which was under a gabled roof, out six feet. This expansion added sixty additional feet to the kitchen.  This design would not change the exterior architectural integrity of the home. It also created a unique and interesting ceiling for the kitchen. The design also called for moving the garage door so that people would not walk from the garage straight into the kitchen.

Using the keeping room for the new kitchen also allowed for an easy way to bring the kitchen together with the family room. Marc’s design called for removing a wall between the two areas. Previously, there had been an open space between the rooms. Marc also designed a coffee bar which brings the rooms together.

When removing the wall between the kitchen and family room, Marc would have to hide the plumbing for the sink. So, he created a  thick wall next to the coffee bar, integrated it into the space, and hid the plumbing in the wall.

The kitchen is filled with Mouser Cabinetry, known for its quality and beauty. The inset doors and additional features make the cabinets functional as well as beautiful.

The clients worked well with Marc, and they appreciated that when small problems arose, Marc tended to them quickly and worked through everything to their satisfaction. Ultimately, the clients were very happy with the work of Integrity Home Improvement and The Counterpoint Group.
