This beautiful kitchen in East Cobb involved taking out walls for a more open floor plan and creating a custom pantry. It’s a complex project which came together smoothly thanks in part to the resources of NARI, the National Association of the Remodeling Industry. NARI contractors have a great resource of skilled experts to call on as partners for needed aspects of homeowner’s projects. The East Cobb clients hired a local NARI certified contractor, Atlanta Design & Build, for this beautiful kitchen renovation. Atlanta Design & Build hired The Counterpoint Group, which is also a member of NARI Atlanta, to collaborate on the client’s kitchen design and layout, cabinetry and installation.
“We did a major renovation moving the laundry room upstairs and turning the downstairs laundry room into a to-die-for pantry. We ended up taking out a wall from the kitchen to the family room. We really gave the homeowner a lot more space in the kitchen, and the entire floor plan is much more open and up to date”, said Dale Contant, the president of Atlanta Design & Build.
Marc Tyson, the owner of The Counterpoint Group, has been remodeling homes for decades and is now working closely with some of the city’s top remodeling firms to do more kitchen design and cabinetry work for them. Marc’s passion is in the design process. He loves listening to what homeowners want and then coming up with a functional and beautiful design. “I love the galley kitchen. The homeowner can do all their cooking and cleaning on one side”, said Marc.
In this home, Dale turned to Marc after the initial floor plan and concept. Marc met with the client and then finalized a design plan that really worked well. The homeowner had the advantage of two expert companies working in concert to design and install her kitchen.
Steven Roberts, Sales / Design Consultant for Atlanta Design & Build, was delighted to see the cabinets get installed in two days. “We were able to keep our granite on schedule”, said Dale.
The granite is really the central focal point of the kitchen. It’s huge. At nine feet by five feet, the Colonial Gold granite countertop gives the homeowner plenty of space for entertaining and meal preparation as well as clean up.
Steven says the project went very smoothly. “We started with kind of a mid-90’s floor plan. It was somewhat open but not like today’s homes are. We ended up taking out three walls to open up the space. We installed an eighteen foot steel beam downstairs to support the upstairs”, said Steven.
Atlanta Design & Build brought the newly designed and much larger kitchen area together with hardwood flooring throughout. New appliances and Mouser Cabinetry complete the updated look. A unique cabinet piece that functions as a coffee bar also adds to the stylish beauty of the kitchen. Atlanta Design & Build’s expertise fulfilled the client’s vision and goals for the whole first floor renovation
Homeowners can trust that when they turn to a NARI member, that contractor has been through an extensive background check and must be voted on by their peers. In addition, NARI members have access to ongoing education and training. And, perhaps most importantly, each NARI member has access to a team of experts to turn to for any project.
